Sometimes you don't need a PDF's layout or formatting at all — you need the words: to paste into another document, feed into a script, search more easily, or archive in the smallest possible format. This tool extracts every character of text from a PDF into a plain .txt file, stripping away fonts, images and layout entirely. It works directly on PDFs that already contain real text; scanned image-only PDFs need OCR first since there's no text layer to extract from.
