About this calculator

Churn is one of the most important health metrics for a subscription or membership business, but it's easy to state loosely ('we lost some customers this month') without pinning it to an exact, comparable percentage. This calculator divides the number of customers lost during a period by the number you had at the start of that period, then expresses it as a percentage, giving you a churn rate you can track month over month or compare against industry benchmarks. It's meant for SaaS, subscription and membership businesses reporting to stakeholders, investors or their own team on customer health. Because churn rate is only meaningful when calculated the same way every time, using a calculator instead of ad hoc mental math keeps the denominator and period consistent, so trends over time are actually comparable rather than distorted by inconsistent measurement.

Worked example

Lost 20 of 500 customers

Result: 4.00%
