EPF Calculator

Estimate your Employee Provident Fund (EPF) corpus at retirement.

Formula v1.0.0IndiaMethodologyReport an issueepf-v1
How this is calculated
Monthly contributions (12% employee + 3.67% employer) compounded annually, with basic salary growing each year

Assumptions used in this calculation

  • Employer contribution split: Assumes 3.67% of the employer's 12% contribution goes to EPF (the remainder to EPS), without applying the EPS wage ceiling.India
  • Interest crediting: Interest is compounded annually in this model; EPFO actually credits interest annually but computes it on monthly running balances.India · Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Government of India

About this calculator

EPF quietly builds one of the largest components of most salaried Indians' retirement savings, but projecting its eventual size is trickier than it looks: your basic salary (and therefore your contribution) typically rises every year, the employer's matching share isn't the full 12% you might assume, and interest compounds annually on a balance that's growing from two directions at once. This calculator combines your monthly basic salary, expected annual salary growth, the EPFO-declared interest rate, and years to retirement, applying your 12% employee contribution alongside the employer's matching 3.67% (the portion of their 12% that goes to EPF rather than the Employee Pension Scheme), compounded annually as your salary rises. The result is a realistic projected EPF corpus at retirement, useful for checking whether EPF alone gets you close to your retirement target or whether you need additional saving through PPF, NPS or other investments to close the gap.

Worked example

₹20,000 basic salary, 8.25% rate, 20 years, 5% annual salary growth

Result: EPF corpus ≈ ₹35–40 lakh depending on salary growth
