Retirement Calculator
Find the corpus you need to retire and how much to save monthly.
Assumptions used in this calculation
- Withdrawal model: Assumes a fixed real (inflation-adjusted) monthly withdrawal throughout retirement, not a variable spending pattern.
About this calculator
Retirement planning has two compounding effects working against each other that make it genuinely hard to size by intuition: your expenses will inflate substantially by the time you retire decades from now, and once retired, your remaining corpus needs to keep growing even as you withdraw from it, or it will run out before you do. This calculator first inflates your current monthly expenses forward to your retirement age, then values the resulting stream of retirement-year spending as an annuity discounted at your post-retirement real rate of return (investment return net of inflation) to size the total corpus required. From there it works out the monthly savings needed today to close the gap between that target and your current savings. The result is a single, defensible corpus and savings figure grounded in both inflation and investment-return assumptions, rather than a rough multiple of your current expenses.
Worked example
30 years old, retiring at 60, living to 85, ₹50,000/month expenses, ₹5,00,000 current savings
Result: Corpus required ≈ ₹6.9 crore; required additional savings ≈ ₹15,436/month
