GPA / CGPA Calculator
Calculate your GPA or CGPA from grade points and credit hours.
Assumptions used in this calculation
- Institution-specific scale: Grade-point values must be entered as your institution defines them (e.g. 4.0 or 10.0 scale); the calculator does not convert letter grades or enforce a specific scale.
About this calculator
A GPA isn't a simple average of your grades, courses carry different credit hours, so a 4-credit A should count more than a 1-credit A, and tallying that by hand across a semester's worth of courses (or a full transcript for CGPA) is tedious and easy to miscount. This calculator takes a list of grade point:credit pairs for each course and computes GPA = Σ(grade point × credits) ÷ Σ(credits), the credit-weighted average, the same formula used whether you're calculating a single term's GPA (conventionally on a 4.0 scale) or a cumulative CGPA across every term you've completed (often on a 10.0 scale in some countries' systems). You supply each course's grade point as your institution defines it (4.0 for an A, 3.7 for an A-, etc.), since letter-grade-to-point conversions vary by school and aren't standardized enough to hard-code. That removes the manual credit-weighting arithmetic and keeps a running cumulative figure accurate across many terms.
Worked example
4.0 (3 credits), 3.7 (4 credits), 3.3 (3 credits)
Result: GPA ≈ 3.67
