Property Tax Calculator

Calculate your annual property tax from assessed value and tax rate.

Formula v1.0.0GlobalMethodologyReport an issueproperty-tax-v1
How this is calculated
Annual tax = assessed value × tax rate

Assumptions used in this calculation

  • Flat rate applied: Applies a single flat rate to the full assessed value, it doesn't model tiered/slab rates, homestead exemptions, or rebates that many municipalities offer.
  • Static assessed value: Assumes the assessed value stays constant, real assessments are periodically revised by local authorities and can rise between cycles.

About this calculator

Property tax is a recurring cost that's easy to overlook when budgeting a purchase since, unlike a purchase price or EMI, it's usually quoted as a small percentage that's hard to translate into an actual annual or monthly figure without doing the multiplication yourself. This calculator multiplies your property's assessed or market value by the local tax rate to give the annual property tax, and also shows the monthly-equivalent amount so it can be folded into a monthly housing budget alongside EMI and insurance. Two inputs, value and rate, replace tracking down a municipal tax table and applying it manually, or worse, guessing based on a neighbour's bill. It applies a single flat rate to the full value, so it won't capture tiered/slab rates or exemptions some municipalities offer, but it gives a solid planning estimate before you get an actual assessment notice.

Worked example

₹50,00,000 assessed value at 0.5%

Result: Annual property tax = ₹25,000
