How this is calculated
Area = Length × Width

Assumptions used in this calculation

  • Shape: Assumes a rectangular plot; irregular plots need to be split into rectangles and summed.

About this calculator

Property listings, sale deeds and municipal records rarely agree on units, one document quotes square feet, another square yards or square metres, making it easy to misjudge a plot's true size or miscalculate a per-unit price. This calculator takes a plot's length and width and multiplies them to find the area, then converts that figure into square metres and square yards alongside square feet, so you can compare a listing against records or other plots without doing the unit math by hand. It's built for the simple rectangular case: two measurements in, one area out, converted three ways. For irregular plots, the same multiplication still applies, just split the plot into rectangles first and add the areas together. Getting this number right matters before you calculate construction cost, stamp duty or price per square foot, since all of those depend on an accurate area figure.

Worked example

40 ft × 60 ft plot

Result: 2,400 sqft
