TDS Calculator

Calculate Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) on a payment and the net amount after deduction.

Formula v1.0.0IndiaMethodologyReport an issuetds-v1
How this is calculated
TDS = Payment amount × TDS rate; Net amount = Payment amount − TDS

About this calculator

Tax Deducted at Source shifts part of the tax collection burden onto the payer, whoever is making a payment for professional fees, contractor work, rent or interest is legally required to withhold a percentage before paying the recipient, and getting that deduction right matters both for the payer's compliance and for the payee knowing what they'll actually receive. This calculator applies TDS = Payment amount × TDS rate, then Net amount = Payment amount − TDS, to your entered payment amount and the applicable TDS rate for that category of payment. Enter the gross payment amount and the rate specified under the relevant section of the Income Tax Act (which varies by payment type, contractor payments, professional fees, rent and interest each have their own prescribed rate) to instantly see the tax withheld and the net amount that changes hands, useful for freelancers estimating take-home from an invoice or businesses calculating what to withhold before releasing a payment.

Worked example

₹1,00,000 payment at 10% TDS

Result: TDS = ₹10,000, net amount = ₹90,000
