Budget Calculator
Track your monthly budget against the 50/30/20 rule.
Assumptions used in this calculation
- 50/30/20 guideline basis: Compares spending against the commonly cited 50% needs / 30% wants / 20% savings split; this is a general guideline, not a personalized or region-specific budgeting standard.
About this calculator
It's easy to feel like spending is under control while actually drifting away from a healthy balance between essentials, discretionary spending, and savings, especially without a concrete benchmark to measure against — vague budgeting advice like "spend less" doesn't tell you which category is actually out of line. This calculator takes your monthly income along with what you spend on needs, and computes your actual savings (income minus needs and wants), then compares that split against the widely used 50/30/20 guideline: roughly 50% of income on needs, 30% on wants, and 20% toward savings. Rather than guessing whether your spending pattern is reasonable, this gives a direct, numeric comparison so you can see exactly which bucket is over or under the guideline and by how much, which is a faster and more concrete way to spot where a budget needs adjusting than reviewing bank statements line by line.
Worked example
₹50,000 income, ₹25,000 needs, ₹15,000 wants
Result: Savings = ₹10,000 (20%)
