About this calculator
A crypto trade's real profit is smaller than the simple price difference suggests, because exchange fees are charged on both the buy and the sell leg, and those fees compound against you in the same direction, eating into proceeds on the way out just as they added to cost on the way in, a detail easy to underestimate when eyeballing a quick price gain. This calculator applies Profit/Loss = (Sell price × qty × (1 − sell fee%)) − (Buy price × qty × (1 + buy fee%)) to your buy price, sell price, quantity, and separate buy-side and sell-side fee percentages, since exchanges often charge different rates for each. It returns your exact profit or loss in currency terms alongside the return as a percentage of your total cost, giving you the real, fee-adjusted number for a trade rather than the more optimistic gross figure you'd get from just subtracting sell price from buy price.
Worked example
Bought 0.5 BTC at $50,000, sold at $60,000, 0.5% fees both sides
