Digital Storage Converter
Convert between bits, bytes, KB, MB, GB, TB and their binary (KiB/MiB/GiB) equivalents.
About this calculator
Digital storage is one of the few areas where the same unit name (like "GB") means two different sizes depending on context, storage manufacturers use the decimal definition (1,000 MB per GB) while operating systems traditionally reported the binary definition (1,024 MiB per GiB), which is exactly why a "1 TB" drive shows up as roughly 931 GB in File Explorer or Finder. This calculator converts a value between bits, bytes, and both decimal (KB/MB/GB/TB) and binary (KiB/MiB/GiB/TiB) units, so you can see precisely how a file size, download, or storage spec translates between the two systems instead of assuming they're interchangeable. It's useful for understanding why a purchased drive reports less space than advertised, sizing a download against your remaining data plan, or converting a file size mentioned in one unit convention into another.
Worked example

Result: 1,000 MB
