About this calculator

Unlike most unit conversions, temperature scales don't share a common zero point, so you can't just multiply by a factor, converting Celsius to Fahrenheit means multiplying by 9/5 and then adding 32, and getting the order of operations wrong (adding before multiplying) gives a completely different, wrong answer. This calculator converts a temperature between Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin using the correct linear formulas for each pair, so a weather forecast, oven setting, or lab measurement in one scale translates precisely into another without manual arithmetic. It's especially useful when travelling to or communicating with a country that uses a different scale, following a recipe or appliance manual from another region, or checking a scientific reading given in Kelvin.

Worked example
