About this calculator
Overtime pay is straightforward in principle but easy to shortchange yourself on in practice, since it requires keeping regular and overtime hours separate and applying the multiplier only to the overtime portion, a distinction that's easy to blur when eyeballing a paycheck against hours logged. This calculator applies Total pay = (Hourly rate × Regular hours) + (Hourly rate × Multiplier × Overtime hours) to your hourly rate, regular hours, overtime hours and chosen multiplier (1.5x for standard time-and-a-half, 2x for double time, or any custom figure your employer or jurisdiction uses), returning the exact gross total. It's useful both for checking that a paycheck matches hours actually worked, and for estimating take-home pay in advance when overtime hours vary week to week, without needing to do the split calculation by hand each time.
