Paycheck Calculator

Estimate your take-home pay after tax and deductions, per paycheck and per year.

Formula v1.0.0GlobalMethodologyReport an issuepaycheck-v1
How this is calculated
Net pay = (Gross − pre-tax deductions) × (1 − tax rate) − post-tax deductions

Assumptions used in this calculation

  • User-supplied tax rate: You provide your own effective tax rate rather than this calculator applying jurisdiction-specific brackets.

About this calculator

Tax brackets, payroll deductions and regional rules vary so much across countries and even states that no single calculator can precisely replicate every payroll system, yet most people still want a quick, honest estimate of what a given gross paycheck actually leaves them with. This calculator sidesteps that by asking for your own effective tax rate rather than trying to apply jurisdiction-specific brackets: it subtracts pre-tax deductions from your gross pay, applies your entered effective tax rate to the remainder, then subtracts post-tax deductions, following Net pay = (Gross − pre-tax deductions) × (1 − tax rate) − post-tax deductions. Enter your pay frequency and it also projects your estimated annual net pay. It's a flexible, region-agnostic estimate for anyone comparing job offers or budgeting off gross pay, once you know or can estimate your effective tax rate from a payslip or prior tax return.

Worked example

₹50,000 gross pay, 20% effective tax rate, monthly

Result: Net pay ≈ ₹40,000
