About this calculator

Landlords and tenants rarely negotiate a rent change in the same terms, a landlord might propose a percentage hike, a lease renewal letter might state a flat rupee increase, or a target rent might just be handed over directly, and comparing those to what you're currently paying takes a different calculation each time. This calculator accepts your current rent plus an increase expressed as a percentage, a fixed amount, or a new target rent, and returns the new rent alongside both the increase amount and the increase percentage so you can see the change from every angle regardless of how it was originally communicated to you. Entering current rent and one change value produces all three figures at once, instead of you working out percentage-to-amount or amount-to-percentage conversions separately depending on which form the increase was quoted in. It only performs the arithmetic, many regions cap annual rent increases by law, so check your local rent-control rules separately before assuming a proposed increase is actually enforceable.

Worked example

₹20,000 current rent, 5% increase

Result: New rent: ₹21,000
