Does the tip get split evenly among everyone?

Yes. The calculator adds the tip to the bill to get the total, then divides that total equally by the number of people. It doesn't account for people ordering different amounts — for itemized splitting you'd divide each person's own items and add their share of the tip separately.

Should I enter the bill amount before or after tax?

Either works — the calculator just multiplies whatever bill amount you enter by the tip percentage. Many people tip on the pre-tax subtotal, but there's no fixed rule; enter whichever amount you want the tip percentage applied to.
