About this calculator
If you know a unit's usable carpet area but need to estimate what it would list as, or you're comparing your own flat's actual living space against a builder's quoted built-up figure, you need to go the opposite direction from the typical carpet-area lookup. This calculator multiplies a known carpet area by one plus a loading factor, the percentage added to account for wall thickness, balconies and other structural elements that sit between the usable interior and the built-up figure, to estimate the built-up area a listing would typically quote. Enter carpet area and a loading percentage, and get the built-up figure back directly instead of manually applying the loading-factor multiplication. Because built-up area still excludes a share of common building areas like lobbies and staircases, which is what pushes the figure further up to super built-up area, this calculator's output is one step short of the final quoted price-basis figure most Indian developers use.
