About this calculator

A daily commute cost, whether it's fuel, tolls, or a transit fare, feels small day to day but adds up to a real line item in a monthly or annual budget, especially when comparing job offers or deciding whether to move closer to work. This calculator takes your cost per commute day and how many days a week you commute, then multiplies by an average of 4.33 weeks per month (52 weeks ÷ 12 months) to get a monthly figure, and by 12 again for an annual total. Manually estimating this often means guessing at a rough 'weeks per month' figure or forgetting that some months have more weekdays than others. Using the precise 4.33 multiplier gives a more accurate monthly and yearly total than assuming a flat four weeks, useful for comparing commute costs against a raise, a remote-work arrangement, or a different commute route.

Worked example

$8/day, 5 days a week

Result: ≈ $173/month
