About this calculator

Jump rope is one of the more calorie-dense exercises for the time invested, but that also means fitness trackers and generic calorie tables often mis-estimate it since output varies a lot with body weight and how hard you're actually working the rope. This calculator uses the standard MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) values from the Compendium of Physical Activities, 11.8 for a moderate pace and 12.3 for vigorous, fast skipping, and multiplies that by your body weight and session duration to estimate calories burned. Manually applying a MET formula means converting your weight to kilograms, your session to hours, and multiplying three numbers together correctly, which this handles instantly so you can log a session or plan a workout around a calorie target without reaching for a calculator app and a unit converter separately.

Worked example

70 kg, 15 min, moderate

Result: ≈ 206 kcal
