Pace Calculator
Calculate running or walking pace and speed from distance and time.
Assumptions used in this calculation
- Constant pace: Pace and speed are calculated as an average over the full distance and time entered; the calculator does not account for pacing variation, hills, or splits within the activity.
About this calculator
Runners plan training and races around pace, but converting a finish time and distance into minutes-per-km, or flipping that into km/h speed, means dividing unevenly split time values, easy to fumble mid-workout or when setting race splits ahead of time. This calculator takes a distance and total time and computes both pace (time divided by distance, expressed as minutes per km or mile) and speed (distance divided by time in hours) directly, so you get both numbers from the same two inputs without manual conversion. It's built for two common uses: checking the pace you actually ran after a workout, or working backward from a goal finish time to find the pace you'll need to hold for a race. Because pace and speed are simple inverses of each other, getting both at once saves the extra arithmetic step of converting one into the other by hand.
Worked example
5 km in 25 minutes
Result: Pace = 5:00 /km; Speed = 12 km/h
