About this calculator

Rowers and indoor rowing machines report performance as a split per 500 meters, so a 2000m piece finished in 7:30 needs to be converted into that per-500 figure before it means anything to a coach, a training log, or a comparison against a Concept2 benchmark chart. This calculator takes your total distance and total time and divides down to that standard split, whether you rowed a short interval piece or a full 2k test, saving you from doing the proportional division on a fogged-up erg monitor mid-workout. It's especially useful for pieces at non-standard distances, like 1750m or 6000m, where the split isn't already displayed on the machine and you'd otherwise have to work out the ratio yourself before you can log or compare the result.

Worked example

2000m in 7:30

Result: 1:52.5/500m
