About this calculator
Estimating how long a typing task will take, transcribing notes, retyping a document, or copying text you already have written out, means converting page count into total words and dividing by your typing speed, a calculation people rarely bother to do precisely and instead guess at. This calculator multiplies the number of pages by words per page to get a total word count, then divides by your typing speed in words per minute to give an estimated total time, letting you plan around a task realistically instead of assuming it'll take 'about an hour' and finding out otherwise partway through. It's specifically for pure typing time on content you already know what to write, not composing original text, drafting new content from scratch involves thinking and editing time on top of the typing itself, which this calculator intentionally doesn't try to estimate since that varies enormously by task and person.
