About this calculator

The sticker price on goods bought from overseas is rarely what actually lands in your hands, since customs duty and import tax get layered on top, and those charges are typically calculated on CIF value (goods cost plus shipping and insurance) rather than the goods price alone, with import tax often applied on top of the duty-inclusive amount, making the true landed cost easy to underestimate. This calculator takes the goods value, customs duty rate, and import tax rate, computes CIF value, then applies duty to CIF and import tax to the duty-inclusive CIF amount, arriving at the total landed cost. Rather than manually working through this multi-step, compounding calculation, or being surprised by a customs bill that's much higher than expected, this gives importers, online shoppers and small businesses a realistic upfront estimate of what an international purchase or shipment will actually cost once it clears customs.

Worked example

₹10,000 goods, 10% duty, 18% tax

Result: ₹14,537.60 total landed cost
