Precious Metal Purity & Value Calculator

Calculate the pure metal weight and value of gold or silver by purity.

Formula v1.0.0India, GlobalMethodologyReport an issueprecious-metal-value-v1
How this is calculated
Value = Weight × Purity% × Rate per gram (100% pure)

Assumptions used in this calculation

  • Market rate accuracy: The result depends entirely on the market rate you enter, this calculator does not fetch live gold or silver prices, so use a current quote from a trusted source for an accurate value.

About this calculator

Gold and silver jewelry is almost never 100% pure metal, it's alloyed with other metals for durability and stamped with a karat or fineness mark like 22K or 92.5%, which means its actual value is only a fraction of what the total weight might suggest at a pure-metal market rate. This calculator takes an item's total weight, its purity (selected from standard karats like 22K/18K or entered as a custom fineness), and the current market rate for 100%-pure metal, then multiplies weight × purity% × rate to find both the pure metal content and its market value. This matters when selling old jewelry, verifying a quoted price, or checking Zakat-eligible gold and silver holdings, since simply multiplying total weight by the pure-metal rate without adjusting for purity would significantly overstate the item's actual value.

Worked example

10g at 22K (91.6%), ₹6000/g pure rate

Result: ₹54,960
